The boys put in a couple months worth of practice and managed to put it all together for 1 minute and 7 seconds. I'm told that four kids received the top honors and two of them reside in my house.
Great work.
On a side note, the boys are working on their eletric guitar skills in case concert musician gig doesn't play out. In addition to that, I can't recall any tell all bios about Yo-Yo Ma and his groupies but the Stones certainly have a few stories to tell. I wonder if the boys will need a roadie?

Alpine Valley Action Video
Okay, Lisa complains that I only take video of her when she's going really slow. This video presents evidence to the contrary as John, Jacob, and Lisa head for a path through the trees.
At approximately 42 seconds into the video you'll notice Jacob take a spill (very right side of the frame) and Lisa's maternal instincts engage in a battle with her survival instincts. I'm not saying which one prevails but you'll note that she does the motherly thing and took evasive action to ski around him.
It could have been worse. She could have skied right over him. Enjoy!

2011 Super Bowl Skiing Alpine Valley
The family took to the slopes at Alpine Valley on Super Bowl Sunday. For some reason the slopes weren't all that crowded even though the temps hovered around 30 degrees and fresh snow fell throughout the day. Something about a football game. Whatever.
We had a lot of fun. I'll be sure to post the videos from the adventure and you'll be impressed that no injuries were permanent.

So the skies are blue and the wind chill registers as 'damn cold' but what matters is what you make of it and the photos that capture those moments. This is one of the photos.

View from the street
Clearly I did a better job of clearing the drive than the city did clearing the street. That said it took them all of 30 seconds to clear the road and undo the last 6 feet of my work!
2011 Blizzard - Mission accomplished
It only took 90 minutes to clear the drive. Now I just have to wait for the plows to seal me in again.

Luckily the drifts didn't form against our door but as you'll see in the subsequent photos and video the drifts were significant farther down the driveway.
The dog had fun - he's now back in the house. The boys had fun - they're now back in the house.
This is the most significant difference from the videos I've seen from the Blizzard of '67. In those videos people had to shovel and kids pitched in to help or played in the drifts. In 2011 the kids played (briefly) and then headed indoors for the Xbox.

It turns out that you can save 50% of your ski related costs if you leave half of the family at home!
John and I hit the slopes at Alpine Valley. We arrived around 10:00 and quickly worked our way up through the greens, blues, and blacks. When we left at 4:00 pm, 31 runs down the hill later, with some fine memories of a great day.
Be sure to check out all of the images and watch the video of John catching some air. In case you're wondering, I kept my skis on the snow at all times.

2011 Devil's Head
Apparently when they predict 18 degrees as the daytime high the crowds stay away for the day. The Janezic clan broke out all of the gear and tackled the slopes - green, blue, and black.
After warming up our ski legs on the greens the beef stew and chilli at lunch did the trick to get us back out on the slopes to run the blues. The hot chocolate, fried cheese curds, and a beer for dad, along with a roaring fire, did the trick in the afternoon and gave the boys the courage to tackle some black runs.
They groom the slopes at five and by then we were pooped. Everybody slept on the 2 1/2 hour ride home - except for Jack. Picked up a deep dish pizza on the way home and finished off the day with a beer. Dead asleep by 10:30.

Accomodations
Mary Jo's and Tim's new place may not be ski out but with some off road skills it is ski in - assuming you don't mind skiing down an access road and through a parking lot past the other town homes.
The hike back up the road is not too bad to get back to the action - as a bonus your legs loosen up during the climb.

R&R
After hitting the bunny hill with the boys I earned some quiet time in the hot tub. I'm sure MJ and Tim will be happy to see that I kept my clothes on for this picture since the tub is in their room!

Christmas 2010
Sometimes our two day Christmas extravaganza seems like it goes by it a flash... and then there are the other times!
By the time we got home from Mary Jo's on Christmas night the only thing left to do was sleep. Sunday was a day of shipping off the dog and packing the car for our trip to Michigan.

Lisa's Birthday
The troops cleared the calendars and headed off for dinner with the birthday girl. It's odd to be in the tweener years where you're not old enough for the senior discount yet by 8:30 you're home in bed (asleep).

Winter Fun
So the plan was to load up the car, drive north, and enjoy a day of free skiing and snowboarding at the Grand Geneva in Wisconsin. Turns out that 40 mph hour winds can eliminate a country road and our plans along with them.
Overall it was a good test run. We have the equipment now we just have to wait for more agreeable weather.
